01 / The workflowInventory before changing infrastructure
Identify the domain, hosting, source or export rights, important URLs, content, forms, analytics, and integrations. Establish who controls each account and which provider responsibilities remain active. Take an appropriate backup and define what a successful restoration would look like before changing the live environment.
02 / The workflowPreserve useful content and journeys
Record important landing pages and the actions customers currently complete. Map old URLs to relevant replacements and keep service information accurate. Replacing every page with a new homepage is not a migration plan. Search performance, form behavior, and analytics continuity need explicit acceptance checks.
03 / The workflowLaunch with a rollback path
Use a review environment to test navigation, forms, redirects, and critical handoffs. Agree on the cutover steps, the person who can reverse them, and the observations that would trigger a rollback. After launch, review real requests and errors rather than treating a successful deployment message as the end of the project.
