How the check works
What makes a website worth what you pay?
A useful comparison considers the work delivered, the support you can use, and the control you have over your website. A monthly bill may include building the site, hosting, routine care, or ongoing marketing. Ask for those items in writing before comparing prices.
How we calculate your recurring cost
Monthly charges are multiplied by 12. Annual charges are used as entered. We add your main payment and separate recurring charges to estimate 12 months at current rates, then divide that amount by 12 for a monthly equivalent. If an amount is unknown, the result identifies the missing information.
For example, a $250 monthly payment plus $120 per year in separate fees totals $3,120 per year, or $260 per month. A past $2,000 setup payment is shown separately. This example is illustrative, not a pricing recommendation.
How we decide what to flag
The check highlights unclear service descriptions, domain or export access, missing update arrangements, reported support problems, and unclear SEO deliverables. It can return a clear arrangement when those answers are satisfactory. No price threshold automatically labels a provider expensive or unfair.

Website cost questions, answered
How do I know if I am overpaying for my website?
Compare the full cost with the work delivered: the original build, hosting, maintenance, content changes, support, and any ongoing marketing. Review ownership and cancellation terms too. A high or low price by itself does not tell you whether an agreement provides good value.
What should website maintenance include?
The agreement should specify the tasks, frequency, response times, and exclusions. Depending on the platform, work may include software updates, backups, monitoring, content changes, and support. Ask who handles each task and what costs extra.
Is hosting the same as website maintenance?
Hosting keeps website files or an application available online. Maintenance is the work that keeps the website operating and up to date. They can be bundled, but you should be able to identify what each charge covers.
How can I tell what my SEO or AEO fee covers?
Ask for specific deliverables: research, page improvements, technical fixes, content work, and reporting tied to relevant inquiries or conversions. A plugin installation alone does not explain an ongoing service. No provider can guarantee rankings or mentions in AI answers.
Does a lower monthly payment always cost less?
No. Compare the same time period and include setup fees, renewal prices, remaining commitments, paid software, migration, and any rebuild needed to change platforms. The checker annualizes your current recurring charges; it does not calculate every possible switching cost.
Will this checker scan my website or tell me a market price?
No. It uses your answers to calculate recurring costs and identify scope or access questions. It does not scan a website, verify an invoice, or use a market-price database. A personalized review is available if you want Renatus to look at your public website and the details you provide.
Do I need to give my email to see the result?
No. Your result and print option are available immediately. Name, email, and website are requested only if you choose a personalized review. Renatus uses those details to respond to your request.
